Originally a Drawing and Painting major at UNT, I switched majors to photography after shooting a friend's engagement session as an amateur. While in the program, I learned film development and how to control lighting and expose manually using the zone system and light meters. Aside from technical knowledge, my real world experience in the business came by assisting with Stacie Tatum Photography of Plano at numerous weddings and portrait sessions on weekends and evenings for over two years. I officially started Heather Mount Photography in March of 2009.
As the title of my site suggests - I am a Natural Light photographer, meaning I prefer to use reflected, direct and ambient light sources instead of flash in my work. I can and do use flash all the time (can't do weddings without it!) but my truest love is always the soft beauty of sunlight. I do most of my shoots outside - except in the case of newborns - when I bring a mobile studio set up to the clients' home. Check out our locations guide for ideas for your session!
Life & Loves:
My husband and I got married in May 2010, and we live happily ever after in our little house just off the Denton square, with our cat Jovie and our tiny kitten Thor. I love to crochet and recently have gotten into road biking. I love Denton, and someday want to live in Portland, Oregon. I'm a sucker for retro graphic design, craftsman houses, and I could not live without my Keurig.
